Leny Yoro provides positive Manchester United injury update after nightmare start to season
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has confirmed surgery on a foot injury “went well” after a nightmare start to his first season with the club.
The highly rated defender signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford earlier this summer, with the Red Devils reportedly having beaten the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool to his signature.
United are thought to have paid Lille around £52m up-front but the deal could rise to as high as £58m if the criteria for various add-ons are met.
Yoro impressed on his debut against Rangers in Edinburgh but suffered an injury during the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in a pre-season friendly in Los Angeles late last month.
“This is not the start I wanted, but that's football,” he wrote on social media platform X.
“The operation went well. Thank you for your many messages of support.
“Now, time for patience and rehabilitation work.
“See you soon, stronger.”

The 18-year-old is expected to miss around three months of action, which could see him return in October.
United manager Erik ten Hag has also lost Rasmus Hojlund for around six weeks due to a hamstring ahead of Saturday’s Community Shield meeting with Manchester City at Wembley.
