LEOMINSTER Town Colts recorded an upset in their Ross Cup first round clash after defeating higher-graded Ledbury Town Reserves 3-2 at the SSAFA County Ground.

In one of the few matches to take place in the county on Saturday afternoon, after the cup tie was moved to the headquarters of the Herefordshire FA, it was the Colts who broke the deadline in the 11th minute when Connor O'Connell's shot from just over 30 yards out surprised the Ledbury Town custodian.

The lead was doubled 16 minutes later after Ashley Ryder powerfully headed home from a corner to hand the Herefordshire League Second Division outfit a healthy advantage.

The New Street outfit halved the deficit in the 33rd minute to put the First Division team back into the proceedings.

Leominster Town Colts regained their two-goal buffer when a 68th minute free-kick into the penalty area was not cleared and the loose ball was eventually forced home by Bradley Coleman from close-range.

Ledbury Town reduced the deficit in the 89th minute to set-up a nervous final few minutes for their north Herefordshire opponents.

The Colts goalkeeper made an outstanding close-range save deep in stoppage-time to secure victory and book a meeting with their own first team in the next round of the competition.

There was better news for Ledbury Town Development in the Ross Cup as they overcame First Division Bartestree 5-2 after extra-time and will now travel to Belmont Wanderers in the next round.

Sol Dean and Mikolaj Skokan each scored a brace of goals, while Noah Jones netted the other for the hosts.

For Bartestree it was a game that got away from them after Jordan Cullen and Reece Leask scored first half goals as the sides went into half-time level.

In the only league game to beat the weather Division One league leaders AFC Worcester proved too strong for Tenbury United as they ran out 5-1 winners.

The Herefordshire Premier returns this weekend when league leaders Alcester Town host fifth place Worcester City Reserves.

Hereford Pegasus Reserves have a Friday night trip to the University of Worcester to face AFC Kempsey.

In the all-Herefordshire clashes basement side Westfields Reserves host Ledbury Town, while Ro-Stars Hereford welcome Bromyard Town to the County Ground.

Holme Lacy will be looking to continue their Division One title hunt when they travel to Worcester United FC Development.

Meanwhile, in Division Two it is top versus bottom as Bartonsham Bulls FC face Ledbury Town Development.
