Reputed Liverpool transfer target Leroy Sane is said to favor a move to Barcelona when his Bayern Munich contract expires at the end of the season.

Sane's Bayern stay looks set to end after five years next summer, with Caught Offside reporting that the 28-year-old would prefer to join Barcelona over returning to the Premier League.

Liverpool has been linked with Sane as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah on a free transfer, which would make sense considering the lack of a transfer fee that the Reds would receive for Salah would mean that the club would have to cut its cloth accordingly when signing his replacement.

However, the chances of Salah staying at Liverpool appear to have increased in recent weeks, with both parties seemingly keen to finalize a resolution to the situation..

Salah will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from next Wednesday ahead of potentially leaving Liverpool in the summer, but the Sunday Mirror reported earlier this month that a compromise had been reached by both parties over a renewal at Anfield.

Liverpool was initially only willing to offer Salah a one-year renewal, while Salah wanted a three-year deal. Barring any last-minute hiccups, the Egyptian will apparently end up penning a two-year contract at Anfield.

Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, is reluctant to hand lengthy extensions to players over the age of 30, which led to a stand-off between the club and Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas. Salah's comments after Liverpool's win at Southampton in November, when he said he was "more out than in" having yet to receive a concrete offer to renew his contract, appear to have had the desired impact.

Meanwhile, Sane is said to be also be attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Italy, although he is said to have no desire to move to either.

Liverpool is still said to remain Sane's most likely destination in England ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, which have both been credited with interest in the Germany international.
