Lewis Dodd's response to viral Wayne Bennett introduction after NRL move
It would have been understandable if Lewis Dodd had been concerned after his viral interaction with Wayne Bennett, but the former St Helens star insists he has found the funny side of his new head coach asking who he was!
Dodd, who has signed for South Sydney Rabbitohs heading into 2025, was signed before Bennett penned his own three-year deal, meaning the supercoach wasn't in charge when the decision to sign Dodd was made.
Bennett met Dodd late last month ahead of pre-season training. In the video, Bennett asked Dodd who he was before saying 'ah you're the Pommy'.

Dodd revealed some of his team-mates had expected him to be offended by the remark, but insisted he found the interaction humourous.
"It was brilliant. That was just Wayne being Wayne," Dodd told CODESPORTS. "It was pretty hard not to laugh at it. It’s been funny seeing the reaction. Straight after some of the boys thought I was offended but I couldn’t stop laughing."
Dodd confessed that he was uncertain about his future at the Bunnies, as Bennett wasn't the coach when he signed his contract. However, after meeting Bennett for the first time last month, his concerns were "eased".
Dodd stated: "I was a little bit unsure if he wanted me because he wasn’t the coach when I signed. The people I was speaking to at the club they reassured me that he wanted me. When I first spoke to him I got that assurance from him. I was nervous but excited to see him.
"Straight from the first conversation he put my mind at ease that as long as I come here, work hard and keep my head down and I will be all right."
Dodd is expected to start next season as the Rabbitohs’ starting halfback. Lachlan Ilias and Dean Hawkins have both departed, seemingly clearing the way for Dodd to partner Cody Walker.
