Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens spoke highly of his players following a 'comfortable' 2-0 win over Reading on Saturday.

Dilun Markanday and Charlie Kelman netted in each half while the Royals failed to test Josh Keeley at the other end, leapfrogging the visitors in the League One table and extending their unbeaten run to 10 matches.

Reading manager Noel Hunt, who worked under Wellens at Swindon Town and Doncaster Rovers, felt his side were better in the first half and believed they panicked after the break, leading to a more direct encounter.

However, Wellens saw the tie differently and never felt under threat for the visitors.

"We controlled the game well," he told the club media channel. "We were never under threat; I can’t remember Josh [making] maybe one [save] in the first half. When you get the second, you’re expecting a response them, but it never really came. I would have liked the third, we were unlucky with a couple of efforts just offside.

"All in all, it was pretty comfortable but when we start [the way we did] and the intensity- I thought we started really well and then their lad went off with a hamstring injury and there was a bit of a lull for two minutes. We took four or five minutes to get going again and then I thought when we moved it quick- the way they play open in the middle of the pitch- our full backs ran off their wingers and I thought we were a real threat."

Picking out key performers, Wellens praised Kelman for his 'second to none' work rate and picked out both full-backs for their attacking intent after targeting the flanks because Reading's wingers 'don't track back.'
