Liam Smith will face Aaron McKenna on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn's highly anticipated fight in April. Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh announced on Thursday night that the huge showdown will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

Smith will be returning to the ring for the first time since he was stopped by Eubank Jr at the AO Arena in Manchester in September 2023. The former Archbishop Beck pupil had been due to face Josh Kelly on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s huge heavyweight showdown against Daniel Dubois at Wembley back in September.

However, a week before the fight was due to take place, 'Beefy' was forced to pull out due to illness, with Kelly instead facing Ishmael Davis at the home of English football. Smith had already teased that a big announcement was coming when he revealed that he had re-joined Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing earlier this week.

McKenna is unbeaten in 19 bouts and put in a career-best performance in defeating Jeovanny Estela in Japan last year. That bout was part of a tournament in the Asian country that has been consistently delayed and led to McKenna fighting just twice since the summer of 2023.

Eubank Jr and Benn are bitter rivals and were due to meet in October 2022, 29 years after their revered fathers, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn, fought for a second time. However, that bout was called off after Benn failed a voluntary drug test, sparking a two-year battle with anti-doping authorities, which culminated in his suspension being lifted last November.

Elsewhere on the undercard, Anthony Yarde will face Lyndon Arthur, Chris Billam-Smith will make his return to the ring against Brandon Glanton and Viddal Riley faces Cheavon Clarke.
