Michael Skubala reckons his Lincoln City side had a goal wrongly disallowed during their 1-0 defeat against Wanderers in the Vertu Trophy last 16.

Reeco Hackett thought he had got the hosts back on level terms 10 minutes before the break, but the goal was eventually ruled out for an offside following a conversation between referee Thomas Parsons and one of his assistants.

Skubala was also disappointed with Aaron Collins’ goal after the Welshman initially beat young goalkeeper Zach Jeacock to a long ball before firing home at the second attempt.

“That is tough,” he told BBC Lincolnshire. “Zach’s come in because of the situation. He has gone out, stopped and he just has to go through the ball, clear the ball.

“That is the reality, but he is a young keeper and these are the things at the minute. Football is a moments game and there are big moments that are hurting us.

“That is a big moment, he knows straight away he should have just come and cleared it. I thought Reeco Hackett was onside for the goal.

“There are other things that are not going for us at the moment. But you create 17 chances to their four or five, you’d hope that you score a goal.

“We know what we need. We know we are solid enough at the back and we know what we need to look for in this window. The club is working hard on that.

“We just need to help the frontline with some experience and when the ball goes in the box, someone who is going to score goals for us.”

Jack Moylan sent a shot just wide at 0-0 and Luke Southwood made a smart stop to deny Sean Roughlan after the break.

“It’s tough to take,” Skubala added. “I thought first half, we were good. We were on the front foot, we were at it, creating chances.

“We looked good, we had an attacking threat, we were getting the ball in the box. I think we are in that moment where we are snatching at things, we are nervous in and around the box and we just need to be calmer.

“Second half, it was a bit more even. They managed it quite well but we still had a threat. It is just being calm and making sure we make the right decisions in the final third.”
