Liverpool: Arne Slot discusses Federico Chiesa debut and issues Harvey Elliot injury update

Arne Slot has suggested new signing Federico Chiesa could make his Liverpool debut against Nottingham Forest - but confirmed Harvey Elliot is out injured.

Chiesa joined the Reds in a £12.5million deal from Juventus last month has and spent the international break settling into life on Merseyside.

And Liverpool boss Slot could bring in the Italy international for his Premier League bow at home to Forest on Saturday.

"Federico has trained with the team three or four times so let's see how he does today with the decision I make,” Slot said. “We have more than 20 players."

However, midfielder Elliot is facing at least a month out after picking up a foot injury on duty with England Under-21s last week.

“Harvey it's a big disappointment for him and us,” Slot said. “He didn't play a lot in the first three games but he showed himself really well in pre-season.

“He would have had a lot of playing time in the upcoming fixtures but that goes to someone else. It's a blow for us and for him. We play seven games in 22 days or something like that."

Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to complete a full 90 minutes under new manager Slot, but that could be about to change against while Alexis Mac Allister is back in training after an injury scare with Argentina.

"He [Alexander-Arnold] proved he could do 90 minutes,” Slot added. “He became tired in the Ipswich game. He's completely ready to play 90 [now].

“We have another player like Conor Bradley, who can do the job really well. We have a whole team to manage and it's also good for Conor to get his playing minutes. It's not always the individual, I look at the team and the whole squad for the fixtures."

"Any injury news? Alexis trained with us yesterday and of course the press conference started with a question about Harvey, who is out for a longer time. No-one else [is injured]."
