Liverpool boss Arne Slot told to sell 3 players to fund 'perfect' $150m transfer
Liverpool has been told it should sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United — even if it means having to sell some current stars including Harvey Elliott to fund a move.
Isak scored against Liverpool at St James' Park a few weeks ago and the Swede has been in excellent form lately. He has 15 goals in 22 appearances so far this season in all competitions and according to The Telegraph, would be valued at around $183m (£150m/€179m).
Former Reds midfielder Don Hutchison posted on X/Twitter: "Chatting to my mate last night (Liverpool fan) would you sell…. Darwin 40mill ish Doak 20 mill ish Elliot 20mill ish A couple of young boys out on loan 40 mill ish Buy A Issak (sic) 120 Mill ish. I think he would be perfect for Liverpool."

While Isak is an exceptional forward, Liverpool spending that sort of money on a player with an imperfect injury history seems unlikely. If Newcastle makes the Champions League spots again, it would be under even less pressure to sell even for a big bid.
Losing Elliott at all would be a bad idea and he would certainly be valued at much more than $25m (£20m/€23m), which is the price Hutchison suggested. On Football Manager it might add up, but in real life, it would be much more complicated than that.
Signing a forward in 2025 could become a priority if someone leaves. Darwin Nunez has not been completely convincing yet well over two years into his Liverpool career, while Diogo Jota has spent more time on the treatment table. Federico Chiesa, meanwhile, is still working his way up to full fitness and has only made four appearances under Arne Slot to date.
