Liverpool braced for interest as Saudi Arabia eye Mohamed Salah and Alisson transfers

Liverpool are braced for another summer of transfer interest from Saudi Arabia with the ambitious league once again preparing to target some of their leading players.

Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker have emerged as among the Premier League stars being earmarked as potential signings with the league determined to bring in another raft of high-profile names.

The Reds rejected an offer of £150million from Al-Ittihad on transfer deadline day last September for Salah, who is about to enter the final 12 months of his current deal at Anfield.

Alisson, meanwhile, was linked with interest from a number of Saudi clubs although no concrete was forthcoming in the last summer transfer window. However, the Saudi Pro League is believed ready to step up their interest in the 31-year-old - who is under contract until 2027 - particularly with Jurgen Klopp leaving as Liverpool manager at the end of the season to prompt question marks over the long-term futures over several of his most prominent signings.

A report in the Guardian has stated the Saudi Pro League wants to increase competitiveness by attracting private businesses to sponsor clubs who are not backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). At present, PIF have majority stakes in four clubs - Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

Both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left Liverpool for the Saudi Pro League last summer to Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad respectively, although Henderson then returned to Europe to join Ajax after only six months. Thiago Alcantara,Luis Diaz, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez were also linked with Saudi clubs last year, with Thiago and Matip set to be out of contract next month.
