Liverpool Champions League squad confirmed as 12 players missing for PSV Eindhoven
Liverpool have left behind a host of first-team regulars with a shadow squad jetting to Holland for the final Champions League opening stage match at PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. Reds boss Arne Slot is without 12 senior players with his team having already secured their place in the last 16.
Skipper Virgil van Dijk, vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, top scorer Mohamed Salah, goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defender Ibrahima Konate, midfielders Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and forward Luis Diaz have all not been included in the 21-man matchday squad.
Joe Gomez has also not travelled despite returning to training earlier on Tuesday, while Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are missing through injury.

It means there will be an unusual look to the Liverpool team that steps out at the Philips Stadion with Slot's side already guaranteed a top-two finish in the revamped first stage.
The Reds need a point to finish top although the difference between first and second - the lowest position in which Liverpool can end up - is negligible regards the draws for the last 16 onwards.
With so many recognised players absent, it represents an opportunity for a number of youngsters to stake their claim. Midfielders Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni and James McConnell and striker Jayden Danns have been joined by goalkeeper Harvey Davies, defenders Isaac Mabaya, Amara Nallo and James Norris, midfielder Kieran Morrison and forward Trent Kone-Doherty.
However, 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha, who became the youngest ever player to start a game for Liverpool in the FA Cup third round at home to Accrington Stanley earlier this month, is ineligible for the Champions League.
