Liverpool chiefs hit with new concern as Anfield roof leaks during Man Utd game
Anfield was left looking like Old Trafford after Liverpool and Manchester United played out a thrilling 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon.
Arne Slot's side maintained their six point lead over Arsenal with the point against their fierce rivals, with Liverpool still having a game in hand over the Gunners, who themselves drew with Brighton on Saturday. Prior to the clash between the Reds and Liverpool, the game at Anfield was nearly called off after heavy snowfall hit Merseyside on Saturday evening through to Sunday morning.
But, eventually, it was deemed the game could go ahead - albeit in freezing conditions with Anfield being buffeted by dismal rain. And as a result, Anfield was left looking like Old Trafford, which has been known to leak from time to time.

Footage emerged on social media following the game of the roof at Anfield leaking, something which could be a cause for concern. However, it is more likely this was simply a result of obscene levels of rainfall even for Merseyside. It has rained heavily on Merseyside both before, and during games in the past, with Anfield having not suffered leaks before.
The Athletic has confirmed the club has launched an investigation into the matter. They report Liverpool officials believe the water created by the masses of snow on top of the roof melting prior to kick-off may have led to the leak - which was then exacerbated by the heavy rain throughout the match between the Reds and United.
"Lad it’s adverse weather. Old Trafford leaks when the suns out and Stretford End goes for a p*** at half time," joked one fan after seeing the footage on X.
Another added: "I was there. Leak was BAD especially in the cold weather. People were drenched." A third said: "The leaking roof at Anfield, making Manchester United feel at home!!"
Liverpool.com says: "Well, the weather was really bad wasn't it? We're not really sure what we can tell you. It's Merseyside, it rains. Take it from someone who knows, the north west is one of the wettest places known to man (yes, I'm bitter, I've been drenched too many times when I lived in Manchester...)
