Liverpool is set for a major change this summer. The end of the Jürgen Klopp era is nearly upon us, with the German into the final weeks of his nine-year stint with the Reds, and Feyenoord boss Arne Slot will be the man to replace Klopp at the end of the season.

Moreover, Michael Edwards has returned to the club after accepting a role at FSG with greater responsibility. Richard Hughes is due to become the club's sporting director this summer after impressing with Bournemouth, and so by the start of the 2024/25 Liverpool will have a new look about it.

On the pitch, we aren't likely to see a whole lot of changes in terms of personnel. Of course, some players will arrive and some will leave, but most of the current squad will remain.

Slot will likely have an idea of players who he might want to bring in to stamp his own mark on the side, and Hughes will likely also have drawn up his own list of players he'd like to bring to Anfield. But who will Liverpool's starting XI look come the start of the new season on August 17?

Alisson Becker will remain in goal, with the Brazilian still one of the best in the world in his position and showing no signs of decline. The Reds are sorted at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley fighting for the role, at center-back we're still likely to see Virgil van Dijk leading the line, and playing alongside Ibrahima Konaté. At left-back Andy Robertson is still almost certainly to be the club's number one choice. So the defense isn't likely to see any sweeping changes.

However, with Joël Matip due to leave the club upon the expiration of his contract in the summer, a new signing could be made to replace the Cameroonian. Liverpool has been linked with the likes of Gonçalo Inácio, Jean-Clair Todibo, Leny Yoro and António Silva have been connected with the Reds, but Eintracht Frankfurt star Willian Pacho (a target, according to Gianluca Di Marzio) could be the pick of the bunch, with the 22-year-old having a very bright future.

In midfield, Feyenoord's Mats Wieffer has been recently linked with a move to Anfield (via Fichajes). Wieffer is a favorite of Slot's, and he could join the Dutch coach at Liverpool next season. Wieffer's versatility could allow Slot to alternate systems. Yet considering Liverpool bought several midfielders last summer, it's unlikely that there'll be a massive revolution in the middle of the park.

In attack, Japan international Takefusa Kubo is being linked with a move to Anfield (via Sam C Reports). Kubo has sparkled on loan at Real Sociedad this season and Real Madrid could move the player on in the summer in order to raise funds. Mohamed Salah's future remains uncertain despite a year left on his contract, but the Egyptian is likely to stay.

Potential Liverpool starting XI for 2024/25 (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konaté/Pacho, Robertson; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Endō/Wieffer; Díaz, Núñez, Salah/Kubo.

Liverpool.com says: Who Liverpool sign this summer will be interesting as Hughes gets his feet under the table. Liverpool needs to get players who can hit the ground running in order to make sure the Dutchman starts well and avoids a potential Klopp-shaped hangover.
