Liverpool boss Arne Slot will be without at least two players for his first and likely last — trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton this midweek. The Reds could move nine points clear at the top of the Premier League with a win.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is still touch and go after he limped off against Bournemouth, sitting out the two matches against Spurs and Plymouth in the meantime. He has been in parts of training and could be involved if he can prove he is ready.

Joe Gomez went off early on against Plymouth and Slot confirmed that it is a recurrence of the issue he picked up against West Ham United a few weeks ago. He is still being assessed, while there was no mention of Curtis Jones, who was on the bench at the weekend but was never going to come on having complained of a minor issue earlier in the day.

"Trent has done parts of training sessions with us yesterday," Slot said during his pre-match press conference. "Let's see how he is today. Joe, it's the same leg he had the injury last time. We are still assessing that."

Liverpool will make changes to its team with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk having not even traveled to the south coast. They will both start with Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai also among those who come back in.

Liverpool.com says: If Alexander-Arnold doesn't come back in, it will be Conor Bradley who plays at right-back. He didn't feature at the weekend so should be fresh. The bigger concern is Gomez if he is set to face another prolonged spell on the sidelines. Liverpool could really do with him being available to rotate in across the backline over the next few weeks.
