Liverpool could repeat Naby Keïta trick in bid 'to win $64m transfer battle' with Arsenal
Liverpool is already being linked with summer additions as the new Anfield era edges ever closer. Jürgen Klopp has just three matches left in charge of the Reds, starting with the visit of Tottenham on Sunday.
Arne Slot looks set to be the man to replace Klopp, with Liverpool having already agreed a compensation package with current club Feyenoord. Personal terms are likely to be a formality with Slot publicly admitting he wants the job.
He is likely to assume the title of 'head coach' rather than 'manager', with his main focus being on coaching and developing the team. Slot will work with new sporting director Richard Hughes to identify transfer targets but will not have the same control as Klopp in those stakes.

One player who continues to be mooted as a potential addition for Liverpool is Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho. The 22-year-old only moved to Germany from Royal Antwerp a year ago in a $9.6m (£7.7m/€9m) deal but his performances have caught the eye of a host of clubs.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool and Arsenal have both made enquiries over Pacho, but Frankfurt has no plans to let him go this summer. Yet the Reds could now look to repeat a transfer trick they managed back in 2017.
Liverpool struck a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Naby Keïta, with the Guinea midfielder then arriving the following summer, amid fears Bayern Munich or Barcelona could try and swoop in. And SportBILD claims that the Reds could sign Pacho at the end of the season but immediately loan him back to Frankfurt.
It is reported Liverpool fear his valuation will soar even further after another year in the Bundesliga, and it is hoped the proposal would appeal to Frankfurt. Despite the structure of the deal, Frankfurt would still demand around $64m (£51m/€59m) for the Ecuador international.
A central defender is likely to be high on Liverpool's wish list with Joël Matip expected to depart on a free transfer. That potential Pacho move would mean another addition would be likely. De Telegraaf reports Feyenoord's Lutsharel Geertruida is keen on joining Slot at Anfield.
Keïta did win the Premier League and Champions League during his time at Anfield but injuries thwarted his progress. He made just a handful of appearances last season and joined Werder Bremen on a free transfer.
But his return to Germany has not gone to plan. He was suspended until the end of the season last month after allegedly refusing to travel with the team, having featured just five times for his new club.
Liverpool.com says: Pacho has emerged as one of the standout defenders in Germany after just one season with Frankfurt. His reputation will likely soar even further next term so Liverpool may have to act this summer. If the Reds can snap up the 22-year-old, and then let him continue to develop at his current club, it could be a real clever piece of business.
