Liverpool dream line-up after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia transfer and Mohamed Salah decision
One of the first rumours linking Liverpool with a potential January transfer has emerged. Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been credited as a potential target for the Reds as a possible first signing of 2025.
The Athletic have reported that Liverpool are weighing up a move for the Georgia international before the transfer window closes. While the Reds are not thought to be in talks with Napoli over signing Kvaratskhelia, the report claims that the Anfield hierarchy could be prepared to secure a deal if the opportunity presents itself.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool do have a genuine interest in signing Kvaratskhelia. The Reds already have six forward options at their disposal with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez.

Kvaratskhelia has been playing on the left wing for Napoli ever since he joined the club in 2022. He has scored five goals with three assists so far this season, and it's been reported that Liverpool will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.
In terms of the left-wing position, Gakpo and Diaz have been used in that role this term. Gakpo, in particular, has thrived since Arne Slot arrived at the club last summer and has established the Netherlands international as a regular starter on the left side of the forward line.
The likelihood of Liverpool signing Kvaratskhelia and keeping all six of their current forward options is not that high. Salah's future has been the most talked about, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, while Nunez has seen his career at Anfield be mentioned on the rumour mill.
It's possible that a move for Kvaratskhelia could be forward planning by Liverpool, similar to when Diaz arrived five months before Sadio Mane's exit in 2022. If that is the case, the 23-year-old would then need to compete with Gakpo and Diaz for a spot in the team.
That could change, of course, if Slot plans to use Diaz as a centre forward for the long term. In that instance, Jota and Nunez's role in the squad will then be the subject of debate, not to mention where it leaves Chiesa just six months after his £12.5million move from Juventus.
It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool will actually pursue a move for Kvaratskhelia, although it seems that it will only be possible if an existing member of the squad departs before the February 3 deadline. If that happens, Slot would be gaining a valuable forward option, but it's unknown, at this point, what would be lost from the squad.
Potential Liverpool line-up if Khvicha Kvaratskhelia signs: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Kvaratskhelia; Diaz.
Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Tsimikas, Jones, Endo, Elliott, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez.
