After months of speculation, Liverpool is closing in on the appointment of the man tasked with spearheading the post-Jürgen Klopp era. A deal to appoint Arne Slot is close and the Dutchman could have some big decisions to make this summer. Mohamed Salah's future remains the source of much speculation with his contract up in 2025, while another player may look to move on this summer. Here is the latest Liverpool news as the end of the season nears.

Reds braced for Kelleher transfer request?

Liverpool is reportedly preparing itself for Caoimhín Kelleher to request a move away from Anfield this summer. Kelleher was the subject of transfer interest last summer with Nottingham Forest also making a bid in January, reports The Mail.

The Reds were determined to keep hold of Kelleher and it was a justified decision after Alisson suffered a hamstring injury. The Republic of Ireland international played 15 matches in a row, his longest run in the first-team.

But Alisson's return to fitness has seen Kelleher drop back down to the bench and there is reportedly a feeling that he may look to move on this summer. According to Football Insider, Liverpool expects Kelleher to look for a move to become a No.1 elsewhere in the summer.

It is claimed that Liverpool understands his desire and is preparing for life without its back-up goalkeeper. The Reds will then look to sign a replacement during the transfer window.

Souness suggests Salah deal

Former Liverpool player and captain Graeme Souness believes Mohamed Salah made a deal with the club last summer, allowing him to leave at the end of this season. Salah was targeted by Saudi Pro League clubs but opted to remain at Anfield.

He has had another fine campaign in front of goal but his form has dipped in recent weeks. Salah was involved in a touchline bust-up with Jürgen Klopp, after being dropped to the bench at West Ham on Saturday.

That incident only fueled speculation further about his future although The Athletic claims Liverpool does expect Salah to stay, despite his contract expiring in a year's time.

Souness isn't convinced though and told talkSPORT: "There’s every chance he did a deal with Liverpool at the end of last season saying he’ll give them one more year and then go. A bit like [Cristiano] Ronaldo did at Manchester United before going off to Real Madrid.

‘"I think there’s every possibility that is the case. Salah is 32 now, he’s been marvellous for Liverpool, but I think he’s had his head turned by the Saudi interest."
