Liverpool are among the clubs who admire Lille star Jonathan David as the Canadian striker faces uncertainty over his future, according to reports. The 24-year-old is out of contract at the French club in the summer and after his impressive start to the campaign, European teams are lining up eyeing his services.

According to The Athletic, the Reds are one of a host of clubs who have been impressed by David after his rise through the ranks in Ligue 1. Arne Slot's Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Aston Villa are said to be in the list of English suitors as Lille face a nervous wait over whether they can retain his services for the future.

David has netted 11 times in 15 Ligue 1 appearances this term and was the match-winner when the French club picked up a surprise win over Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Athletic adds that Lille have an offer on the table for their forward but he has yet to reveal his stance, while there is a suggestion that there is an expectation he will leave the club. He has courted interest elsewhere in Europe with Juventus, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Atletico Madrid, while Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl is said to be a long-standing admirer.

Speaking about the prospect of a move to the Premier League, he said in September: "What am I waiting for? I guess now it’s easier to say. I’m in the last year of my contract.

"Eventually my contract is going to run out. So then we’ll see. We’ll see what happens next year. I’m open to anything.

"I think obviously the Premier League is regarded as one of the best league in the world. And for me it’s not the Premier League or bust. I’m open to anything and every league has its challenges."
