Arsenal fans are up in arms after a 'studs up' challenge during Liverpool's win over Ipswich Town was swatted away.

Julio Enciso, who was making his Premier League debut for the Tractor Boys at Anfield, leapt into Reds midfielder Wataru Endo, catching the Japan international in the chest with his boot. The Colombian was travelling at high speed and jumped high in the air before connecting with referee Michael Salisbury mere metres away.

However, the 21 year old somehow avoided his marching orders ,receiving a booking, before assisting for Ipswich's consolation in the 4-1 defeat. But the challenge has now caught the attention of many Arsenal fans who have taken to X to voice their anger. Youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off by Michael Oliver against Wolves for what appeared to be a tactical foul to stop a counter attack.

Piers Morgan also gave his verdict on events, describing the decision as "ridiculous", while speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Tim Sherwood said: "I am still reeling from it, I can’t believe Michael Oliver has sent him off!!"

Gooners sought out Enciso's challenge and used it as a comparison, completely in disbelieve at refereeing inconsistency. On X, one said: "Julio Enciso makes his Ipswich Town debut and nearly gets sent off after going studs up on Wataru Endō’s face."

Another wrote: "Yeah he probably should’ve been sent off."

And one other said: "It's really bizarre at how this is clearly a more dangerous tackle, and somehow he escapes with only a yellow. And Myles Lewis-Skelly from arsenal, gets a straight red for a tactical foul. Very bizarre officiating."

A Premier League statement read: "The referee’s call of a red card for Lewis-Skelly was checked and confirmed by VAR, who deemed his challenge to have been serious foul play."

Arsenal went on to win the game 1-0 thanks to a Riccardo Calafiori corker.
