Saudi Pro League leaders Al Hilal could intensify their interest in Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, according to reports.

The 32-year-old has been the topic of interest from the Kingdom following their recent push to attract some of the world's best talents to their Premier League. Liverpool have seen a host of former players make the move to Saudi Arabia and in recent years, speculation has increased over a possible switch for Salah.

Despite his continued success at Anfield, Arne Slot's side are at risk of allowing the Egyptian to leave on a free transfer. The Egyptian has been a long-standing suitor for a move to the Middle East, he has remained on Merseyside but with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he is facing an uncertain future.

Neymar, who was one of the stars to move to the Middle East in 2023, is facing an uncertain future with the league leaders as talks continue over a possible return to Santos. The Brazilian is said to be closing in on a move and as a result, Al Hilal are expected to push for a new marquee signing.

Although there is no mention of a direct domino effect for Neymar leaving and Salah joining in his place, well-known journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that they will make a push to bolster the squad using the funds freed by the sale of the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward to target Salah.

There will be an 'exceptional window - a transfer window to open before the official summer market gets underway - for Saudi clubs to make improvements to their squad between June 1 and June 10.

Speaking in 2023, Saudi Pro League's Director of Football Michael Emenalo admitted that Salah is a player that they want in their league. He said: "Mo Salah, like [Lionel] Messi, [Karim] Benzema, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, these are players that when there is a sense of availability for them, we are willing to listen.

"But we also understand that Mo is happy where he is at present and in a historic, wonderful club at Liverpool. We respect that very much and we don't want to come across as putting any pressure on him.

"But if there is any interest to do something, Mo Salah is a player that you want in your league, in any league."
