Liverpool have been handed two fresh Khvicha Kvaratskhelia transfer updates which could see Arne Slot activate a major January plan. The winter window jumped into life following reports that Kvaratskhelia was keen to depart Napoli with Liverpool then swiftly emerging as a team interested.

It is understood that the Reds have been long-term admirers of Kvaratskhelia and that was proven by the Athletic claiming that a move would be considered by Liverpool if the 23-year-old was to depart Napoli in January. And Antonio Conte has now seemingly confirmed that is destined to happen.

"We are talking about an important player,” he said at a press conference. “Last summer I spoke to the president and I wanted to have some technical certainties by demanding the confirmation of some important players.

“Even though he and others had asked to be sold, I worked on it and managed to keep who I wanted. Khvicha has asked the club to be sold. I am disappointed, I realised that it was a bolt from the blue and I am taking a step back.

“I would never want him to think that I have chained him here if he were to stay. I did it last summer thinking of convincing him of the goodness of the project but evidently I did not succeed. We are losing an important player.” Such an admission from the Napoli boss could now spring Liverpool into life but they face some stiff competition.

Paris Saint-Germain were the team to first make an official move and that appears to have placed them in the best possible position to win the race for his signature. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has seemingly confirmed as such while also providing clarity on another exit route for Kvaratskhelia.

"Kvaratskhelia will not sign a new deal and he will be available for transfer in the January window," the Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel. Kvaratskhelia is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, they are working on it. At the moment it is not a done deal but PSG are the clear favourites.

"We heard about a swap deal with Manchester United for Rashford, but Napoli are not in the mix. We heard about many other clubs in England, it is obvious that they will call and ask about Kvaratskhelia when they heard the news that he is available on the market but PSG remain the favourites."

With the Georgia international appearing set for a move to the French capital, the boat may have passed for Liverpool but there is absolutely still a chance until everything is agreed. Slot already has an abundance of attacking talent at his disposal but the addition of Kvaratskhelia would take them to another level.
