Liverpool returns to Champions League action this week needing a point to guarantee qualification for the last-16 with a game to spare. As a result of the strong position the Reds are in, Arne Slot could make a few changes to his starting XI to keep things fresh.

The likes of Jarell Quansah, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Federico Chiesa should all be in contention to start with none of them being injured at the moment. Key men like Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah could be rested while there is a chance to do so, with few opportunities for that in the next few months.

Later today, Liverpool will undertake an open training session in Kirkby, with that session in front of the media scheduled to start at 12.15pm UK time (7.15am ET). The main talking point will be whether or not Diogo Jota is involved before Slot gives an update in his press conference a little later in the day.

Jota missed Liverpool's trip to Brentford at the weekend with a minor injury. But Slot said he was only going to be missing for a short period, meaning he could be back in contention here.

"He wasn’t on the training ground yesterday so that means we have to see today where he is," Slot said last Friday. "So, it is not sure he will be available for tomorrow. We have to wait and see today.

"He felt a little bit when he came in [after coming off the bench at Nottingham Forest], a little niggle during the half-hour he came in. He could finish the game, but afterward, he complained a bit about it, and that’s why he didn't train yesterday.

"We have to wait and see if he is available today and then, of course, tomorrow. It is not like we expect now [him] to be out for a long period of time. It will be a struggle to have him on the pitch maybe on Saturday, but we are hoping to see him on the pitch in the near future again."

The only other Liverpool player currently out injured is Joe Gomez. He picked up a muscle issue against West Ham United at the back end of 2024 but could be out for another couple of weeks yet. There has been no update on his situation.
