Liverpool's injury issues have significantly improved in recent weeks, with several players making their return to action.

The Reds have welcomed two key players back in the New Year with Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley returning to the side in the last week. Liverpool's injury plight has improved of late following the December returns of Alisson, Kostas Tsimikas, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa.

There were concerns earlier this week that the Reds would lose yet another central defender after Jarell Quansah was forced off in the first-half against Tottenham Hotspur which turned out to be due to illness with Quansah playing a full 90 against Accrington Stanley .

However, Arne Slot still does not have a completely clean bill of health as Joe Gomez remains sidelined. Here's where he is up to with his recovery.

Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez limped out of the 5-0 win over West Ham with a hamstring problem.

There was no contact between Gomez and any other player when he pulled up clutching the back of his leg during the first half, which was a clear sign that the center-back had sustained a muscle injury.

What Slot said about Gomez on January 3: " Joe [Gomez] is of course not in a good place when it comes to his injury. He's out for a few weeks, that's for sure.”

While Gomez is the only injury concern, Slot will also be without Darwin Nunez for the trip to Nottingham Forest. The Uruguayan picked up a fifth yellow card in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

While other players have been able to serve their suspensions in the Carabao Cup, Nunez is only able to serve his for the Forest clash.
