Liverpool has laid out its plans for January transfer window.

The Reds have started the new year in the thick of speculation surrounding their January transfer window plans and looming contract dilemmas. The spotlight remains firmly on Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk, all of whom are set to become free agents this summer unless new deals are secured with all three eligible to agree a pre-contract agreement with another club during the transfer window.

Adding to the intrigue, the club's new sporting director Richard Hughes is working on potential new signings, according to The Times.

Alexander-Arnold's future is a hot topic, with links to Real Madrid dominating discussions. The right-back’s situation remains uncertain as he nears the end of his contract. Arne Slot has emphasized Alexander-Arnold’s commitment to the team but refrains from addressing the ongoing contract saga directly.

Salah, meanwhile, has fueled further speculation with his recent comments to Sky Sports. Salah stated his primary goal this season is to win the Premier League, referring to it as his "last year" at Liverpool. Liverpool’s ageing core, coupled with persistent injuries, has led to significant discussions about long-term squad planning.

Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate have both endured fitness setbacks this season, while Joe Gomez is sidelined with a hamstring issue. Similarly, last season saw Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas sidelined for extended periods, forcing makeshift solutions in defense, as a result, reinforcing the backline has become a priority.

Hughes, familiar with Kerkez from his time at Bournemouth, is believed to be closely monitoring the Hungarian talent. Notably, Kerkez shares the same agent, LIAN Sports Group, as Federico Chiesa, fueling further speculation about potential dealings.

Liverpool.com says: As one of the busiest transfer windows in years looms, Liverpool’s strategy in addressing these challenges will be crucial in determining their trajectory for seasons to come.
