Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher offers clear advice to Chelsea over Man Utd transfer
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told Chelsea to steer clear of signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this month.
United is not actively looking to sell Garnacho but will consider offers for the 20-year-old, as offloading him for a big transfer fee would help the Red Devils to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability (PSR) regulations.
United has reported pre-tax losses of £312.9 million ($389 million) over the last three years and runs the risk of breaching the league's financial rules in 2024-25.
Financially, United would stand to benefit the most from selling academy players such as Garnacho, as his sale would effectively represent 'pure profit' on the club's books.
Despite having a rare opportunity to sign one of United's best young players, Chelsea has been told that Enzo Maresca already has enough wingers at his disposal.

Playing Sky Sports’ Transfer Deal or No Deal, Carragher was asked for his take on Garnacho potentially moving to Stamford Bridge and responded: "No deal because Chelsea do not need to sign another winger."
United paid just over half a million dollars to sign Garnacho in 2020, and any transfer fee received above that amount can be included by United in its annual financial report for the year ending June 30, 2025.
The same applies for players like Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, who are among United's most valuable players. Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Rashford is not in his plans, but there have been no takers for the 27-year-old so far this month, and that is mainly due to the lucrative salary he is on at Old Trafford, which no club in world soccer would be willing to match considering his poor form over the last 18 months.
United is also reluctantly open to offers for Mainoo, who was also linked with Chelsea earlier on in the window, but for now, it seems as though a departure for Garnacho is more likely ahead of next Monday's transfer deadline.
