Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has revealed his theory that his former club are going under the radar with their contract dilemma.

Mo Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all be free agents in the summer when their contracts expire. Speculation has run rampant about which players, if any, will extend their stay at Anfield beyond this season. Full back Alexander-Arnold has attracted huge interest from Real Madrid who tried to tempt the academy graduate this month.

However, no announcement of the trio signing on the dotted line has been made - that we know of. And former Reds striker Fowler has a theory that the club know far more than they are letting on. Speaking as a pundit on Amazon Prime Video ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Lille, presenter Gabby Logan asked him: "I know you have got a theory on that. That two of the three may well have signed up already.

Responding, Fowler said: "Yeah. I have no inside information by any means - but it is just my opinion. But if two of them were to come out and say they had signed, then it puts the other players in a really back position. That could ruin the atmosphere of the whole stadium having a go at the one player.

"I don't know if it is true. I want the three of them to sign. Because the three of them are magnificent players. And a club like Liverpool you are playing on these fantastic nights. These all deserve to be watching these brilliant players. But we just don't know."
