Liverpool Legends take on Ajax today, with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres making their latest returns to Anfield.

A big crowd is expected to help raise funds for the LFC Foundation, with millions of pounds raised in these exhibition games over the years.

This afternoon’s event will also see lifelong Reds fan Sven-Goran Eriksson take to the dugout as part of the home side’s management team, after the former England boss revealed it to be one of his wishes after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Last year’s match saw Liverpool get the better of Celtic in a 2-0 win but a look at the squad of icons being taken to Merseyside by Dutch giants Ajax suggests that this will be a highly competitive affair.

The match takes place today on Saturday, March 23, 2024 and kick-off is pencilled in for 3pm GMT.

The Liverpool team will be managed by lifelong fan Eriksson alongside club icons Ian Rush, John Aldridge and John Barnes.

More names could be added on the day with Jari Litmanen and Chris Kirkland the latest to join the squad.

What charity is Liverpool Legends vs Ajax for?

The match is to raise funds for the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity.

The previous seven Liverpool Legends games have raised a combined £6.4million for the fund, which goes to improving the lives of those who need it in the city and internationally.

More than 57,000 tickets have been sold for the game, meaning Anfield will be at the very least close to a sellout come kick-off.

Friday lunchtime was the deadline to buy tickets online with the remaining seats expected to be available to snap up from the stadium.
