Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday as they travel to AFC Bournemouth, looking to at least maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table. With Arsenal hosting Man City on Sunday, it could be a decisive weekend for the title-race.

The Reds travel to the south coast bolstered by the returns of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez to training, though it remains to be seen if they can be involved against the Cherries.

But it won't be easy for them against Andoni Iraola's side, with Bournemouth unbeaten from their last 12 matches and full of confidence after thrashing both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in their last two outings.

Arne Slot made nine changes against PSV Eindhoven in midweek as he left 12 senior players at home. With the Liverpool squad refreshed as a result with further rotation expected, our writers have their say on who could start at the Vitality Stadium...

Paul Gorst - Big guns return as Nunez gets the nod

One can only imagine how comfortable Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and co were as they watched the PSV Eindhoven game while wrapped in cotton wool back on Merseyside.

Arne Slot took the decision to keep his big guns at home to give them a full week of training ahead of this massive match and the benefits of that call could be huge given the Reds can go nine clear ahead of Arsenal's visit from Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

There are only a couple of decisions to make and I'm going to give Andy Robertson the nod at left-back in favour of Kostas Tsimikas as Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all return.

In midfield, Dominik Szoboszlai is named at the tip of the midfield three and there are starts for Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. It's a totally new engine room from PSV.

Up top, the big decision is whether to name Darwin Nunez or Luis Diaz through the middle? I am going to give Nunez the nod and keep Cody Gakpo off the left. Diaz can wait in reserve if needed. Mohamed Salah replaces Federico Chiesa.

My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Nunez.

Ian Doyle - Nunez loves it against Bournemouth

After the game that didn't matter comes a match that has very real consequences for Liverpool at Bournemouth. And it's time to bring all the big hitters back.

What, then, is Reds boss Arne Slot to do? Alisson Becker returns a right-back, Ibrahima Konate and skipper Virgil van Dijk are the centre-backs with Andy Robertson shifting back into his usual left-back role.

In midfield, it's back to the tried and trusted for much of this season, which means Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the deeper roles and Dominik Szoboszlai as the number 10.

And up top, Darwin Nunez scored three times at Bournemouth last season and in the home game this term, so he can lead the line with Mohamed Salah on the right and Cody Gakpo on the left.

My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Nunez.

Theo Squires - Diaz leads the line and Tsimikas keeps place

Having made nine changes against PSV Eindhoven, and left 12 senior players at home, Arne Slot is certain to restore the rested cavalry for Liverpool’s trip to Bournemouth.

With his options potentially bolstered by the returns of Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez and Darwin Nunez, he has a strong hand to pick from.

Kostas Tsimikas might have completed the full 90 minutes against PSV, but I’d keep him at left-back ahead of Andy Robertson as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker return to make up the back five.

It’s all change in midfield with Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai restored to make up the engine-room.

In attack, Cody Gakpo keeps his place on the left after being taken off early in the second half against his former club. Nunez is limited to bench duty at best after illness, with Luis Diaz leading the line. And Mohamed Salah returns to complete the XI.

My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

Joe Rimmer - Diaz back in centre as left-back dilemma solved

Arne Slot was afforded the luxury of leaving his big guns at home for the trip to PSV Eindhoven in midweek. But while the Champions League gave the Reds the chance to allow their first-team stars to put their feet up, Slot will find the selection for Bournemouth an altogether different proposition.

Indeed, it's a good problem to have for the Reds boss who was boosted by the returns of Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez this week. With Curtis Jones not far behind, the nirvana of a fully fit squad is within reach.

It means a tricky team selection against the Cherries, not least at left-back, where Kostas Tsimikas is providing stiff competition for Andy Robertson. The Scot, one suspects, will get the nod.

In midfield, the rested legs of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will be needed.

And up top I'd go for Luis Diaz down the middle instead of Nunez or Jota, who are both great options from the bench.

My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.
