One step from Wembley, and Tottenham Hotspur standing in the way. But when the Londoners visit Anfield, literally anything can happen - and usually does.

Arne Slot therefore can't leave anything to chance as Liverpool look to overturn the controversial 1-0 first-leg deficit from last month. What, then, is the Reds boss to do? It's time to go all in and play his best starting line-up in this League Cup semi-final decider.

That means Alisson Becker in goal and Andy Robertson at left-back, with Ibrahima Konate partnering skipper Virgil van Dijk at centre-back. With Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined, Conor Bradley comes in at right-back.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are the deeper duo in midfield with Dominik Szoboszlai the number 10.

And up top it's Mohamed Salah on the right, Cody Gakpo on the left and Luis Diaz down the middle. The bench looks very strong should things not go according to plan initially.

With respect to Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle, Liverpool's lack of Premier League action this weekend affords a virtually fully-fit squad the chance to go strong for this second leg.

The game against Everton next week is the latest of several 'biggest game of the season' claims of late, but a six-day gap between that and this one tonight means Arne Slot should be able to send out the big guns in search of a first trip to Wembley on his watch.

As holders of the competition, you have to go back to December 2022 for the last time the Reds lost a tie in this competition and they are now going for an 11th crown this term. No club has won it as much and Liverpool have the chance to eliminate the only other side still in the hunt for four trophies this term. With all that being said, I am going as strong as possible.

There is a debate to be had around the left-back position but I am keeping faith with Andy Robertson and Conor Bradley deputises for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai all get the nod before being taken out of the squad for the visit to Plymouth. And up top, Luis Diaz stays as the central option with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota vying for a spot off the bench.

Liverpool might be trailing 1-0 on aggregate to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup semi-finals, but with home advantage, they have no reason not to be confident. Wembley and a second-successive final are in their sights.

Rotation can come against Plymouth Argyle on Sunday, with many first-teamers getting nearly a full week to recover ahead of next week’s Merseyside derby. With Trent Alexander-Arnold the only player out injured, there really is no reason for Arne Slot not to go strong.

Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas can come in on each side of the defence, but Alisson Becker continues in goal and Ibrahima Konate partners Virgil van Dijk.

Curtis Jones is unfortunate to have to make do with substitute duty once again after impressing off the bench against Bournemouth. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister keep their places alongside Ryan Gravenberch.

In attack, Luis Diaz can start upfront with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota instead getting starting opportunities against Plymouth. Consequently, it’s Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo on the wings as Liverpool look to overturn the narrowest of margins in front of their own fans.
