Liverpool line-ups for Nottingham Forest as key man benched and Federico Chiesa decision made
After a couple of domestic cup clashes, Liverpool will get back to business in the Premier League on Tuesday night. Nottingham Forest, the City Ground and a surprise top-of-the-table tussle away.
The Reds are six points clear of Arsenal and Forest going into the midweek fixtures, having slipped up last time out in the top flight with a draw against Manchester United. Arne Slot is close to having a full-strength squad to choose from here though.
As for Forest, they are the most in-form team in the league at the moment and have won their last six games in succession. Victory for them would close the gap to Liverpool to just three points and fuel hopes of a shock title push.
Slot has some big decisions to make with his team selection. Ian Doyle, Paul Gorst and Theo Squires have all picked their respective XIs below.

This is one of the biggest games against Nottingham Forest in decades, so it’s just as well that Arne Slot has virtually a full complement of players to choose from. Only the hamstrung Joe Gomez is sidelined through injury and Darwin Nunez is suspended.
Ibrahima Konate is restored at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson is recalled at left-back. Trent Alexander-Arnold keeps his place from Saturday’s FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley.
Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are recalled and Dominik Szoboszlai starts further forward with Curtis Jones in reserve with Harvey Elliott.
Up front, Diogo Jota starts centrally. Luis Diaz can rest up, Cody Gakpo gets the nod for the left-hand side. Mohamed Salah starts.
My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Jota

It's throwback to the late 1970s and 1980s as Liverpool and Nottingham Forest prepare to do battle at the top of the league.
What, then, is Reds boss Arne Slot to do at the City Ground, which has hardly been a happy hunting ground for Liverpool in the last 40-odd years?
There will be changes. A lot of them, in fact, from the weekend FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley.
That means Alisson Becker in goal and Ibrahima Konate and skipper Virgil van Dijk at centre-back. Trent Alexander-Arnold can continue at right-back and I'd stick with Kostas Tsimikas on the other flank of the defence.
In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are the double defensive pivot, while Dominik Szoboszlai is the number 10.
And up top, it's Mohamed Salah on the right, Cody Gakpo on the left and Luis Diaz down the middle.
My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz

Having rested the majority of his senior stars against Accrington Stanley, expect Arne Slot to ring the changes for Liverpool’s top of the table trip to Nottingham Forest.
Trent Alexander-Arnold continues at right-back, but it’s all-change in the rest of the back five. Virgil van Dijk is partnered by Ibrahima Konate with Alisson Becker back in goal, while Andy Robertson just about sees off the challenge of Kostas Tsimikas.
Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister both return in midfield, but Dominik Szoboszlai can continue at number 10 following his 45-minute showing in the FA Cup - providing he’s deemed fit enough to go again after illness. Curtis Jones is on standby if not.
And it’s all-change in the attack too, with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo on the flanks and Luis Diaz leading the line. With Darwin Nunez suspended, Federico Chiesa could be in line for his second Premier League appearance off the bench.
