Liverpool line-ups for Tottenham as Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister decisions made
Liverpool travel to Tottenham Hotspur today looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Back-to-back draws against Newcastle United and Fulham - the latter coming with 10 men after Andy Robertson's early sending off - means the Reds' lead at the top is now down to two points.
And Arne Slot's side could even find themselves in second position come the 4.30pm kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Chelsea continue their fantastic form with victory at Everton.
However that would not detract from the excellent season Liverpool are having under their new boss Slot.

Wednesday's night win at Southampton booked the Reds' place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals - where they will play today's opponents Tottenham - and they are already all but assured of a spot in the Champions League round-of-16 after six straight successes.
But the league title is the trophy Liverpool supporters want the most and they can take another step toward that by triumphing at a wildly inconsistent Spurs team who have proved already this season they can beat the strongest sides in the top flight - and lose to the weakest.
So how should Slot line-up? Our Reds writers have their say...

The big issue for Liverpool is just what to do at left-back. Andy Robertson is in something of a bad patch of form just now but Kostas Tsimikas has only just returned from injury having played 45 minutes against Southampton.
Joe Gomez will return to centre-back and Virgil van Dijk is back in after resting up for the Carabao Cup fixture. Trent Alexander-Arnold starts on the right.
In midfield, there’s a return for Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, with Alexis Mac Allister in reserve if needed. A fully recharged engine room could make all the difference here.
Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz return and there’s a first start for Diogo Jota since October 20. Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are on the bench should they be required in North London.
My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota.

So this is nearly Christmas. And will Arne Slot have done for his team selection for the Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon?
This is a time for Liverpool to go absolutely full strength as it's a game where they can make up points on last season.
It may surprise some to discover at present they're actually no better off than they were from the respective games the previous term.
In goal, it's Alisson Becker. Trent Alexander-Arnold is right-back with Andy Robertson back from suspension at left-back, while skipper Virgil van Dijk can be joined by Joe Gomez at centre-back.
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are the double pivot with Dominik Szoboszlai ahead of them.
And up top, Darwin Nunez can start down the middle, with Mohamed Salah on the right and Cody Gakpo on the left.
Given that leaves a bench that be selected from Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo, Kostas Tsimikas, Tyler Morton, Federico Chiesa, Luis Diaz, Jayden Danns and Diogo Jota, suddenly Liverpool's options are looking rather good again.
My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Nunez.

Tottenham Hotspur away is always a tough game, but right now, it’s a ‘must-win’ for Liverpool in my eyes. That might seem a little strange, given their advantage at the top of the table and incredible start to the campaign, but it would be an almighty statement if they could start the festive period by clinching a statement win against one of the Premier League’s biggest names.
Spurs’ weaknesses defensively are well documented with the Reds perhaps well placed to take advantage, while they arguably owe them one in North London after last season’s diabolic officiating cost them in the capital.
Alisson Becker returns in goal for this one, with Joe Gomez switching to his favoured centre-back position alongside Virgil van Dijk. Andy Robertson is back from suspension and, assuming his knee is 100% after last week’s draw with Fulham, can come back in at left-back too. Kostas Tsimikas might be back fit, but he can be eased back in a little bit more before starting at home to Leicester City on Boxing Day.
We saw in midweek that Tottenham can make big mistakes when put under pressure, so let’s select some runners for Liverpool. Curtis Jones replaces Alexis Mac Allister and can line up in the deeper midfield role against Ryan Gravenberch, while Dominik Szoboszlai comes back in at number 10.
And it’s that same reasoning which helps select my attack, with Darwin Nunez keeping his place upfront after ending his goalscoring drought against Southampton in midweek. Luis Diaz also returns on the left-wing in place of Cody Gakpo, with Mohamed Salah inevitably completing the XI.
My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez.
