Liverpool are monitoring Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old’s contract expires in the summer and his good run of form for Fulham has attracted interest from Liverpool and Italian giants AC Milan.

Liverpool are keen to sign a centre-back this summer as they start planning for life after Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseyside club need English players to meet their UEFA quota for homegrown players in the Champions League next season.

Joel Matip is out with a serious knee injury and the 32-year-old is out of contract in the summer and may have played his last game for Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk is also 32 and recently hinted he could leave Liverpool after Klopp’s shock announcement that he will depart Anfield at the end of the season. The Liverpool captain has since said he is “fully committed” to the club.

Fulham are preparing a fresh deal offer for Adarabioyo to ward off interest from in him, and have signalled their intent to restart contract negotiations after summer talks broke down.

Adarabioyo remains open to staying at Craven Cottage and will decide his future at the end of the season. He boasts a good working relationship with Marco Silva.

Adarabioyo suffered a minor knock at Burnley last weekend but, despite holding his hamstring while coming off the pitch at Turf Moor, he expected to be fit for Saturday’s home match against Bournemouth.

Tottenham previously showed an interest in Adarabioyo, but their January signing of Radu Dragusin from Genoa is likely to rule out any future deal.
