Liverpool have a few weeks to complete any transfer business before the January window closes for another year. The Reds have already been credited with an interest in several potential new signings that could all move to Anfield in the first month of 2025.

Arne Slot's side are currently at the top of the Premier League and have a six-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, with a game in hand. Liverpool dropped two points in the title race on Sunday with a 2-2 draw against bitter rivals Manchester United.

The transfer window will close on February 3, meaning Liverpool still have plenty of time to bring new players to Anfield should they wish to do so. It remains to be seen what players, if any, the Reds will want to sign this month, but based on some of the recent rumours, there are several names that could be of interest.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.

Liverpool dealt Johan Bakayoko transfer blow

Liverpool have been handed a blow in their apparent efforts to try and sign PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko. Reports in recent months have linked the Reds with a move for the Belgium international, although they may face increased competition for his signature.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Newcastle and Arsenal are both interested in signing Bakayoko. However, the 21-year-old's agent, Gerard Witters, has issued a statement confirming that a move for the forward during the January window is not expected to happen.

“Bakayoko will not leave PSV this season, regardless of the amount," said Witters.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia update emerges

Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Reds have been frequently credited with an interest in signing the Georgia international over recent years, but Kvaratskhelia has remained with the Serie A club despite the speculation.

According to TEAMtalk, though, Liverpool are still interested in signing Kvaratskhelia, who would be a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. The report claims that the Reds are "monitoring" the 23-year-old as the January transfer window rolls on.

Liverpool will apparently face competition from Manchester United for Kvaratskhelia's signature. However, it has been claimed that a move in the summer may be more likely if the Reds decide to act on their interest for the winger.
