Liverpool next 5 fixtures compared to Arsenal and Chelsea after Premier League lead grows
It’s been another good week for Liverpool, with its lead at the top of the Premier League having grown after the latest round of fixtures.
Having spent Christmas with a four-point lead over Chelsea, the Reds now sit six clear of their nearest rivals after the Blues slipped up against Fulham. Arsenal is now the biggest threat to Arne Slot’s side after its victory over Ipswich took it up to second.
Liverpool knows it will go into 2025 in pole position, with Chelsea now sitting seven points behind, while Manchester City lost even more ground as their remarkable slide continues. What’s more, the Reds still have that all-important game in hand on their rivals.

Nevertheless, the pressure will be on Liverpool to maintain their advantage as the title race heats up - and City could yet have a big say in who takes home the crown.
Liverpool
29 December: West Ham (A)
5 January: Manchester United (H)
14 January: Nottingham Forest (A)
18 January: Brentford (A)
25 January: Ipswich (H)
Liverpool might be heavy favorites for the title now, but the tough games keep coming. West Ham is certainly a tougher prospect than it looked just a few weeks ago after going four games unbeaten.
Manchester United still looks an absolute mess, and shouldn't really pose any problems to the Reds. In fact, out of the next five fixtures, Nottingham Forest away looks the most daunting.
Slot will no doubt like some revenge for the one and only defeat he's suffered so far as Liverpool boss. Brentford could be another tricky away day, but with the visit of Ipswich closing out January, hopefully the Reds' lead may have grown even stronger.
Arsenal
1 January: Brentford (A)
4 January : Brighton (A)
15 January: Tottenham (H)
18 January: Aston Villa (H)
25 January: Wolves (A)
As many have predicted, Arsenal is now Liverpool's closest challenger, although Mikel Arteta's side still has a lot of work to do to close that six-point gap. Trips to Brentford and Brighton are certainly not challenges to take lightly, especially with Bukayo Saka out injured.
Tottenham and Aston Villa should also test the Gunners, although the fact they are at home for those two games may work in their favor. Wolves looks a much more difficult prospect now as well after Vitor Pereira claimed back-to-back wins in his first two games, so there is scope for some slip-ups for Arsenal.
Chelsea
30 December: Ipswich (A)
4 January: Crystal Palace (A)
14 January: Bournemouth (H)
20 January: Wolves (H)
25 January: Man City (A)
Having dropped to third following that late defeat to Fulham, Chelsea may well prove to live up to Enzo Maresca's expectations and fall out of contention for the title. They do have a favorable run of fixtures coming up though.
They will be expected to beat both Ipswich and Crystal Palace, and while Bournemouth and Wolves might be tougher, they do have home advantage. At this stage, a trip to Manchester City looks like an easy three points, but surely Pep Guardiola's side will rediscover their form eventually?
Man City
29 December: Leicester (A)
4 January: West Ham (H)
14 Janaury: Brentford (A)
19 January: Ipswich (A)
25 January: Chelsea (H)
We're not even sure whether City should be featured in this anymore. Now 14 points behind Liverpool, they look like they are well and truly out of the picture for the title.
That doesn't mean they can't still have a big say in who takes their crown off them though. The next four games probably won't have any bearing on Liverpool, but the following two fixtures will.
City hosts Chelsea in its final game in January, and then a week later, it will be Arsenal's turn to face the defending champions. If ever there was a time for Guardiola's side to come back into form, it's now.
