Liverpool returned to Premier League action this week with a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. And with Arsenal winning the North London derby, the gap at the top has been cut slightly: it's now four points, with the Gunners having played a game more.

The visit to the City Ground, where Darwin Nunez scored a last-minute winner last season, marked a chance to move nine points clear at the top of the table but it was always going to be tricky. Instead, Arne Slot's men had to settle for a point, with Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas combining immediately after coming off the bench.

We've taken a look at the next five fixtures that the two most likely teams in the title race face (Liverpool and Arsenal) with Mikel Arteta's side playing catch-up. Gabriel Jesus also added to the Gunners' worries by sustaining an ACL injury.

Liverpool's next five Premier League fixtures: Brentford (A), Ipswich (H), Bournemouth (A), Everton (A), Wolves (H).

Liverpool.com says: There are some tricky games in this run but Liverpool does have the advantage of being able to rotate a bit more thanks to having fewer injuries than most, a bigger roster, and a strong existing position in the Champions League. Most of the matches should be won with this week's trip to Nottingham Forest tougher than any of the next five.

Arsenal's next five Premier League fixtures: Aston Villa (H), Wolves (A), Manchester City (H), Leicester (A), West Ham (H).

Liverpool.com says: Arsenal is not scoring that many goals at the moment and is heavily reliant on set-pieces. Its injury list is starting to grow too. The games with Aston Villa and Manchester City both have the potential to cause dropped points, with trips to Wolves, Leicester and West Ham winnable but far from easy. Arsenal will need to step up if it is to go on a roll.
