Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was the hero as he scored twice in stoppage time to defeat Brentford. The Reds looked set to endure another frustrating draw after wasting a flurry of chances throughout the contest until the Uruguayan sent a timely reminder to his critics.

The Premier League table-toppers now move six points clear of Arsenal after the Aston Villa overturned a two-goal deficit to earn a draw. Liverpool's title rivals were on course to reduce the gap to four points but squandered a lead as Unai Emery came back to haunt his former club.

Arne Slot's side looked set for third straight game without a win, but the substitute ensured that Liverpool ended their disappointing run and extended their lead at the Premier League summit.
