Liverpool next five fixtures compared to Arsenal ahead of huge Man City clash

Liverpool have some difficult fixtures coming up. After locking horns with Aston Villa on Wednesday night, the Reds must begin preparations for their heavyweight bout against Manchester City.

The Premier League champions will host Arne Slot's side at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what is expected to be a fiery clash. Manchester City may be out of the title race, but they can still have a huge say on who lifts the trophy at the end of the season.

Liverpool lead Arsenal by some distance, but they've got some tricky games on the horizon. So, with that being said, the Echo has looked at the Merseyside outfit's upcoming fixtures and how they compare to their rivals.

Manchester City (A) – Premier League – Sunday, February 23

While this may not be the title showdown it once was in previous seasons, this is a huge clash. Manchester City have struggled this season, yet they're still in the thick of a race for top-four, meanwhile, Liverpool have been superb throughout.

Newcastle United (H) – Premier League – Wednesday, February 26

The Reds are back in action a few days later, welcoming the Magpies to Anfield. Newcastle United didn't have a great start to the campaign, but they've grown into a formidable outfit who could cause Liverpool a few problems.

Southampton (H) – Premier League – Saturday, March 8

Before Liverpool and Newcastle meet again at Wembley Stadium, the Reds will face Southampton at Anfield. Slot will be hoping the home faithful can give his side a warm farewell before they head to the capital.

Newcastle United (N) – Carabao Cup final – Sunday, March 16

This will be a great opportunity for Liverpool to win their first trophy of the season. The Premier League leaders may back themselves, but Newcastle have some big names who could upset the apple cart.

Everton (H) – Premier League – Wednesday, April 2

This time at Anfield, Liverpool will be desperate to exact their revenge on Everton in the Merseyside derby. Red mist descended on Goodison Park when they last met as the Toffees netted a controversial stoppage-time winner.
