Liverpool maintained their advantage at the top of the Premier League table with a dramatic late victory at Brentford. Darwin Nunez stepped off the bench to score twice in injury-time to earn the Reds a 2-0 victory over the Londoners.

The result means Arne Slot's side have arrested a mini-slump of two successive draws after they finally broke down the resolve of Thomas Frank's team having dominated in terms of possession and corners.

Here we run the rule over the Liverpool players after a remarkable finale at the Gtech Community Stadium...

Alisson Becker 7

Comfortably held a few shots straight at him first half and in the right place when Brentford threatened after interval.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Fizzed in a couple of inviting balls that weren’t capitalised upon solid enough defensively. Saw plenty of ball second half and finally unlocked Brentford defence with assist for opener.

Ibrahima Konate 7

Solid enough in the air but not much of an attacking threat at set-pieces. Guilty of conceding a couple of soft free-kicks but strong up against Wissa late on.

Virgil van Dijk 8

Excellent defending up against Mbeumo in particular and in the right position so often to clear. Another captain's performance when it mattered.

Kostas Tsimikas 6

Put himself under pressure with early booking but otherwise stood up reasonably well up against dangerous Mbeumo first half. Subbed.

Ryan Gravenberch 7

One shot from range saved by Flekken but occasionally bypassed by Brentford first half until he was key to Liverpool maintaining so much pressure after break.

Alexis Mac Allister 7

Some excellent touches in midfield as Liverpool began to dominate and helped pull Brentford defence around. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 6

Frustrated for large parts before break but had one shot on turn saved and created chance for Gakpo. Became less of threat longer game progressed.

Dominik Szoboszlai 7

Got through plenty of work and pressed well while using possession and hit crossbar with shot from range first half. Booked and subbed.

Cody Gakpo 7

Offered himself regularly down the left and sent one header at Flekken and wide with good chance. Continued to mine the flank after break but to not much reward. Subbed.

Luis Diaz 6

Worked so hard but too often away from the number nine position early on. Better when he began to stay in and around the area and among those denied by Flekken second half. Subbed.

Andy Robertson (for Tsimikas 65) 6

Set up chance for Nunez but deliveries otherwise not what he would have wanted.

Darwin Nunez (for Diaz 65) 9

Off target with one header but the man when it counted with two excellent finishes in the closing moments. Booked.

Curtis Jones (for Mac Allister 80)

Difficult to get up to speed of game.

Harvey Elliott (for Szoboszlai 80)

Tellingly involved in the build-up to both late goals.

Federico Chiesa (for Gakpo 87)

Brought ball forward to spark second goal.
