Liverpool extended their lead at the Premier League summit after a remarkable 6-3 victory at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah both scored twice while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai also netted as the Reds romped in North London.

With Chelsea having dropped points earlier in the day at Everton, the Reds are now four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand and will be top of the tree at Christmas.

The ECHO was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and here we run the rule over Arne Slot's side.

Alisson Becker 7

Watched a few shots sail wide first half, confident enough in possession and no chance with any of the Tottenham goals, but good save from Johnson late on.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

Guilty of forcing passes somewhat early on, but settled and created one chance for Salah and superb cross for opener before key part in third. Dogged defensively.

Joe Gomez 8

Didn’t overcomplicate matters and offered assistance in covering the dangerous Son, particularly in first half. A very composed display.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Tottenham kept game largely away from the skipper first half but he did lose former team-mate Solanke for Tottenham’s third goal. Only problem before then had been a sore toe.

Andy Robertson 8

Wasn’t intimidated by the pace and power of Kulusevski and inviting cross helped prompt the second before excellent tackle sparked the fourth. Beaten in air by Johnson in build-up to Tottenham third, though.

Ryan Gravenberch 8

Excellent in moving Liverpool forward quickly with silky movements, and made himself available ay all angles and strong in the tackle. Bit quieter second half but his job was done by then.

Alexis Mac Allister 7

Helped Liverpool dictate game before break, in right place to nod in second but lost ball cheaply to allow Tottenham briefly back into game. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 9

A constant threat, striking the bar while forcing blocks from Spence and saves from Forster, and then teeing up the third before scoring the fourth and fifth to become the fourth-highest goalscorer in Liverpool history. Oh, also set up the sixth. Subbed.

Dominik Szoboszlai 9

His best performance in a Liverpool shirt, caused continual problems for Tottenham with his persistence and willingness to run from the number 10 position. Caused confusion for the second, initiated and then converted the third and had hand in fourth and fifth. Booked.

Cody Gakpo 7

Got into a few decent positions off the left flank but didn’t quite use the ball properly until important part in fourth goal. Booked and subbed.

Luis Diaz 8

Little lost early on but adjusted to the number nine role by dropping deeper, and superb run and header for the opening goal and later tucked away sixth. Constant danger playing in behind Tottenham second half. Subbed.

Diogo Jota (for Gakpo 68) 7

Ran at the Tottenham defence in trademark fashion.

Curtis Jones (for Mac Allister 68) 7

Held on to the ball to help Liverpool see out the game eventually.

Darwin Nunez (for Diaz 87)

Minutes for the Uruguayan.

Harvey Elliott (for Salah 87)

Merry Christmas to you, sir.
