Liverpool receive Virgil van Dijk contract warning as summer transfer 'plan' develops
Liverpool's focus remains on regaining the Premier League title after bowing out of the FA Cup following a 1-0 defeat to Championship side Plymouth. Ryan Hardie's effort from the penalty spot was enough to separate the sides at Home Park.
Despite the disappointing Sunday afternoon, that will not tarnish the Reds' sensational efforts so far this season. From topping the Champions League league phase, securing a place in the Carabao Cup final to being six points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League, Arne Slot's team still have a great chance of winning three major trophies.
This week, they will have the opportunity to extend their lead to nine points when they play neighbours Everton. That match had to be rescheduled to Storm Darragh.

Here, the ECHO has taken a look at the latest headlines from around the club;
Virgil van Dijk 'open' to leaving Liverpool
According to reports in Spain (via Football 365), Virgil van Dijk has left the door "open" to joining Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window. The Reds skipper will be out of contract at the end of the season along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.
It's said that Van Dijk is "determined to explore" a new challenge, after almost seven years at Anfield. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all said to have already made "offers" while the opportunity to land him at a "zero cost" is thought to be attractive for a number of clubs.
Reds have 'already held' talks with midfielder
Liverpool have, reportedly, held talks with Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich over a potential move to the Premier League. However, TBR Football claims the Merseysiders are not alone in their pursuit for the German international with Manchester City also interested.
The reigning champions are also said to have been "in contact" over a proposed move. As things stand, Kimmich is set to leave the German giants at the end of the season - though Bayern remain hopeful of extending his contract before then.
Pep Guardiola, who has coached Kimmich at Bayern, is an admirer of the 30-year-old. "He's got passion - he's got absolutely everything. I love this lad," he previously said.
Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl, meanwhile, admitted the club would give him time to make a decision over his future. "Of course, we know that we can't wait forever, but we want to give Joshua a bit of time and to let his thoughts mature that Bayern Munich is the club where he wants to continue," he said last week.
