Liverpool: Ruben Amorim issues statement after 'agreeing three-year manager contract'

Liverpool manager target Ruben Amorim has issued an emphatic statement on his future amid reports he has agreed a move to Anfield.

The Sporting head coach has been installed as favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp, who announced earlier this season that he was calling time on a trophy-laded spell with the Reds.

The 39-year-old has impressed in Portugal, winning the title in his first season and set to win a second this campaign.

Amorim has previously admitted he could leave Sporting this summer but, following reports in Germany that a three-year contract with Liverpool is close to being agreed, has called for an end to the speculation.

He said: “I didnot meet Liverpool for any interview and there’s no agreement, it’s not true”.

“I’m Sporting manager, I want to win here and I didn’t meet any club. Nothing has been agreed. Stop with this story. This is the last time I speak about my future.”
