Liverpool scout 'next Jude Bellingham' Chelsea transfer target who snubbed Man City
Liverpool appear to have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this month following his impressive performances in the German top flight.
Gittens, who sees his contract at the Signal Iduna Park expire in June 2028, has featured 18 times in the Bundesliga this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. Despite the England Under-21 international's best efforts, he's struggled to drag Nuri Sahin's side into the top four.
Nevertheless, his eye-catching displays have reportedly attracted the interest of numerous top clubs. In fact, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool scouts have been monitoring Gittens' progress this term, travelling to Dortmund to watch the £42.3m-rated Manchester City academy graduate on several occasions.

The report states that Chelsea made a formal enquiry last week as Enzo Maresca looks to bolster his frontline. While Premier League clubs have begun to circle Gittens, who's the latest Englishman to earn their stripes in Germany after Jude Bellingham, it's said that Sahin's side don't expect him to leave this month.
Last season, after firing Dortmund to a 4-2 victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach and then netting his first Champions League goal, Niclas Füllkrug heaped great praise on Gittens. The now-West Ham striker said: "He still has room for improvement in his decision-making, but he is always dangerous for the opponent.
"We know that we don't have to support him in one-on-one situations. It's worth its weight in gold to have a player like that in the team and we'll be happy if he continues like this."
Meanwhile, his former boss, Edin Terzić, added: "It's a special story, he's an explosive player. He's been having cramps lately and was very exhausted the day after the game. But now he's built up a foundation."
Gittens picked up from where he left off in pre-season, turning heads in a 2-2 draw with Villarreal. After the game, he said: "For me personally, it's another step forward. To be available and not to be injured for the majority of the matches.
"That's a big thing because when you're available, you can always play. I learned a lot throughout the last season, namely to be patient, to learn from others when I play and to wait my turn.
"I go to the gym as often as possible in order to have fewer injuries. I would like to score more goals and get more goals and assists than last season. And hopefully we will win a title as a team."
Gittens added: "Even in the more difficult phases with injuries, I have always felt the club's belief and trust. I feel incredibly comfortable in this team, in this city, in this stadium."
