Liverpool head coach Arne Slot appears to have ruled his team out of the running to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the January transfer window.

The Reds, along with Chelsea and PSG, were named as potential suitors for the Georgian forward. The Athletic reported on Thursday that Liverpool were not actively seeking another winger but should Kvaratskhelia become available this window they would be open to pursuing a transfer.

As for Chelsea, they see the 23-year-old as one of their potential targets for the future but PSG currently lead the way. Kvaratskhelia started the season well at Napoli but has struggled since November and has suffered a couple of niggling injury issues since the middle of December.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, Slot was asked about transfer rumours surrounding his club and the Dutchman mentioned Kvaratskhelia specifically. "When you said they are linked with clubs...we are all linked," he explained.

"Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, it is January and I said after West Ham don't disappoint me, with links. That is what is happening now 99 out of 100 times at the end of the window, almost all of these stories are untrue, so what can I comment about?

"The rumours keep going but no comments from my side." Such a response suggests that Liverpool are not preparing to go in for Kvaratskhelia this winter. Should they change their mind or Chelsea wish to officially enter the race, a £67m price tag is thought to have been placed on the winger.
