Liverpool set to miss out on dream free transfer signing after contract decision
Liverpool can seemingly cross one name off its list of possible new left-back signings after it emerged that Alphonso Davies is set to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich.
Davies' current deal is due to expire at the end of this season, and he was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid last year, but it seems as though he will be extending his stay in Bavaria. The Athletic reports that months of talks between Bayern and Davies have proved productive, with an agreement over a four-year deal now not far away.
It is claimed that clubs in the Premier League, as well as Real Madrid, are poised to swoop if any issues arise late on in negotiations between Bayern and Davies.

Madrid reportedly reached a broad agreement with Davies on personal terms last February, but The Athletic reported that Madrid cooled on the idea of signing Davies and went months without resuming contact, prompting Davies to question how much Madrid wanted him.
Liverpool is understood to be considering strengthening at left-back during the summer transfer window, with Andy Robertson now in his 30s and his understudy, Kostas Tsimikas, also set to turn 30 next year. Arne Slot was rotating Robertson with Tsimikas until the latter picked up an ankle injury in November, and the Scot has made several errors since the beginning of the season, conceding penalties against Southampton and Real Madrid, and being sent off against Fulham.
Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez has been heavily linked and will certainly not demand the kind of wages that Davies would be after. Bournemouth signed a new left-back this month, with 19-year-old Julio Soler arriving from Argentinian team Lanus, and while he has not been signed as a direct replacement for Kerkez, Soler's arrival would no doubt smooth over any possible exit for the Liverpool target.
