Incoming Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has previously lauded Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid transfer links with the Napoli star. The shot-stopper shares a dressing room with his Georgia international teammate and witnessed first-hand the quality of the 23-year-old as the pair starred at Euro 2024.

On Thursday, reports emerged over a possible move for the attacker in January as interest intensifies in Kvaratskhelia. According to The Athletic, Liverpool are monitoring the future of the Georgian as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea circulate.

It has been claimed that Liverpool could consider a move should his future be decided this month. The winger has two years remaining on his contract in Naples but the impasse over an extension as reportedly sparked interest.

Mamardashvili was one of Arne Slot's first signings at Anfield, however the highly-rated shot-stopper will not officially become a Liverpool goalkeeper until the summer following his spell at Valencia.

Speaking ahead of their Euro 2024 round of 16 clash with eventual winners Spain, the goalkeeper was full of praise for his teammate, rating him as a better player than any of Spain's talent-laden squad. He said: "Kvaratskhelia is better than all of Spain.

"I am not going to say that we are going to win, but we are going to fight, and we will see what happens," he declared to the media from Velbert, a small town in western Germany where Georgia is preparing for the tournament.

"Spain is the favourite, but we are going to fight, we are going to compete. We have already done well in the European Championship. Now we have to enjoy it."
