Mohamed Salah has been preparing in the perfect way with Liverpool playing seven games in the next 23 days. The Egypt international ended a three-game goal drought, his biggest of the 2024/25 season so far, by scoring the opener against Lille in the Champions League earlier this week.

Jonathan David netted an equaliser in the second half but moments later, Harvey Elliott bagged the winner off the bench. Another three points in Europe confirmed qualification to the last-16 with Arne Slot now able to rotate for their final league phase game away at PSV next week.

The Liverpool boss actually made quite a few changes to his starting XI for the visit of Lille to Anfield with Jarell Quansah, Darwin Nunez and Conor Bradley all named from the off. Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz meanwhile, were given slight rests.

Mohamed Salah on the other hand, played the full 90 minutes for the 24th time in this campaign. With a significant amount of games on the horizon, the 32-year-old may be hoping for some time out of the team especially with Federico Chiesa looking sharp in his last two appearances off the bench.

A seventeenth consecutive start is expected this weekend however, with Ipswich the visitors to Anfield. Of the six games that follow, Salah could be named on the bench against PSV and for the FA Cup fourth round tie against Plymouth Argyle.

Starts against Bournemouth, Everton, Wolves in the Premier League and for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at home to Tottenham appears inevitable and Salah has seemingly reminded everyone exactly why he is capable of still playing so much.

On Thursday evening, via Instagram stories, Salah posted a picture of himself in the gym, showing off his incredible physique.

Given the chaotic schedule that is coming, Slot will certainly be happy to see his talisman working on his recovery which will help him remain in the best possible condition. Alongside his excellent form, another major talking point surrounding Salah is the fact he sees his current contract expire this summer.

There is currently no concrete update on extension talks or the chances of him remaining at Anfield beyond this season. However, it is clear that Curtis Jones wants him to stay as he pointed to the ground moments after Salah's goal with his arm around the Reds winger.
