Liverpool could be without Joe Gomez for next weekend's Premier League clash against Manchester United after the defender was substituted in Sunday's match against West Ham United with a muscle injury.

England international Gomez was replaced by Jarell Quansah midway through the first half at the London Stadium after pulling up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old had started Liverpool's last five Premier League games as he deputised for Ibrahima Konate, who sustained a knee injury in the closing stages of last month's Champions League victory against Real Madrid.

But Gomez's run in the side could now be in jeopardy after his untimely injury on Sunday and he will face a race against the clock to prove his fitness in time for United's visit to Anfield next weekend.

Liverpool could also be without Conor Bradley and Konate for next weekend's Premier League clash, with the duo having not featured for Arne Slot's side since November 27.

But the good news for Liverpool is that Dominik Szoboszlai will be in line for a return to action after serving a one-game suspension for his side's trip to East London on Sunday.

Since taking charge of Liverpool, Arne Slot has lost just one game in all competitions (Nottingham Foret), with his side sitting top of the Premier League and Champions League, and gearing up for a League Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur next month.

United beat Liverpool 4-3 in a thrilling FA Cup quarter-final last season but haven't won at Anfield since January 2016.
