Stadium Astro presenter Adam Carruthers was left in awe of Liverpool supporters after what they did following their side’s win over Manchester City at the Etihad. The Reds moved one step closer to becoming Premier League champions with a 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring when he finished a well-worked corner routine after just 14 minutes. The Egyptian then turned provider for Dominik Szoboszlai, who made it 2-0 eight minutes before the interval.

Arne Slot’s side were able to close out a hugely significant win without any alarms in the second-half. The victory moved the Reds 11 points clear in the table, and supporters are starting to believe that title number 20 will be on its way to Anfield in May.

And following the game at the Etihad, supporters certainly enjoyed themselves in the away end as they waited to be let out. As Reds fans chanted about their side and the club’s history, Carruthers, broadcasting live at the same time, was stopped in his tracks by the atmosphere being created.

“I have never seen this, and I have covered a lot of games,” he said live on air. “Can we just pick up? This is the away end behind us, and they are still singing.

“They are still packed in the away end section and singing. The whole stadium is empty, we are the only ones here apart from Liverpool fans in the corner.”

Former City goalkeeper Shay Given was alongside Carruthers on pundit duty for the Australian broadcaster Stadium Astro, and he believes no one will catch the Reds now.

He said: “It is 11 points clear and there is no one, I don’t think, around the world who is watching the league now and thinking someone can catch Liverpool. This is a massive statement today. It is more or less wrapped up.”
