With Christmas now over, Liverpool turns its attention back to its push for the Premier League title.

The Reds host Leicester City later today, with Arne Slot’s side knowing that another victory will guarantee that they enter 2025 in pole position in the league. With Chelsea facing Fulham earlier in the day, Liverpool will be hoping the Blues can drop more points and give them the chance to extend their four-point lead.

The hosts will be the clear favorites at Anfield today as they meet the Foxes for the first time since they returned to the Premier League, with former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy now at the helm. Slot though has one or two tricky calls to make with his side.

As per usual, Alisson Becker starts in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk retaining their positions in defense. The first question mark arises at left-back.

Andy Robertson returned from suspension against Tottenham, and obviously fared much better than he did against Fulham, although Dejan Kulusevski did give him plenty to think about. Slot does like to rotate his left-backs though, so it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Kostas Tsimikas returned to the starting line-up here.

There is a bit of a dilemma in midfield. Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai certainly all deserve to keep their places after their performances at Spurs, but with two of those just one yellow card away from suspension, Slot may have to be careful.

Gravenberch and Szoboszlai are the players at risk, and the Liverpool boss will have to decide whether he wants to risk both of them at the same time. We’re not so sure he will, so we’re going to go with Curtis Jones to replace Szoboszlai today.

Mohamed Salah takes up his usual spot on the right, leaving just the left and No.9 positions to be decided. With Darwin Nunez not in great form, you’d have to imagine it’s between Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota for the remaining berths.

Having impressed at Tottenham, Diaz keeps his place for us, while the time might be right for Jota to make his first start since October.

Predicted Liverpool line-up vs Tottenham: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jones, Diaz; Jota.
