Liverpool can confirm its place in the last-16 of the Champions League by avoiding defeat against Lille at Anfield. Arne Slot's side could even qualify with a game to spare if it loses and results elsewhere go its way.

With a cushion at the top, Liverpool could afford to make changes to its team. But Slot has picked a strong XI nonetheless with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah starting.

Alisson Becker starts in goal with Conor Bradley coming into the team at full-back. Van Dijk is alongside Jarell Quansah, with Kostas Tsimiakas at left-back and Andy Robertson on the bench. Ibrahima Konate is rested.

In midfield, Curtis Jones comes into the team alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch while Salah is joined by Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz. Cody Gakpo is among the substitutes, alongside Federico Chiesa and Jayden Danns.

"A lot has been said about what we have done in the competition up to now, but while a lot of the compliments have been deserved, we are well aware that there is still work to be done if we are to reach the knockout stage," Slot writes in his program notes.

"There are various possibilities over the last two rounds of fixtures that would allow us to achieve this objective, but the most important one involves what we do. As things stand, we are masters of our own destiny, so we should make the most of this by doing everything possible to get the result that we need to guarantee progress.

"For this to happen, another strong performance will be required. Lille have already shown their quality in the Champions League this season and have their own objectives for qualification, having recorded victories against Sturm Graz, Bologna, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

"Those two wins against the big Madrid clubs tell us everything we need to know about what Lille are capable of. Clearly, they are very strong opponents who are more than worthy of our respect."

Liverpool starting XI: Alisson; Bradley, Quansah, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz. Subs: Kelleher, Jaros, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Robertson, Endo, Elliott, Mac Allister, Morton, Chiesa, Gakpo, Danns.
